[Event "Country Vic Champs 2005"] [Site "Castlemaine"] [Date "2005.10.15"] [White "Robert Bailey"] [Black "Kevin Perrin"] [Result "1-0"] [ECO "C17"] [Opening "French: Winawer, 5.a3"] {Inspired by the recent club championship game with Kevin, I decided to go back and find the other French Winawer that we played.} 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 cxd4 6.axb4 dxc3 7.bxc3 {This is where the two games vary; here I took on c3 and allowed black to attack the centre immediately.} Qc7! 8.Bd2 Qxe5+ 9.Be2 Nf6 10.Nf3 Qd6 11.O-O O-O 12.Be3 {c4 looks playable and also came up as a theme in the recent club championship game.} b6 13.c4?! Qxb4 14.cxd5 Nxd5 15.Bc1 Qc3 16.Ra3 {This rook lift also appeared in the recent game. Black remains a little better here though.} Qc7 17.Bb2 Rd8 18.Qd4 Nf6 {Instead f6 looks strong and appears to keep black with an advantage of -1.035.} 19.Qh4 Qe7 {Nbd7} 20.Bd3 {Ng5?!} h6? 21.Be4? {Missing Bxf6, Qxf6 and Qe4!} Ba6 22.Rfa1 {Re1} Qb4? 23.Bh7+! {Remarkably, the exact same amount of moves as the second Winawer in the 2018 Club Championship! This has certainly been a trip down memory lane. I also remember a despairing loss to Jon Davis in the final round of this tournament, spoiling any chance of gaining the reserves title.} {#r} 1-0
