[Event "VCCC"] [Date "2018.10.14"] [Round "4"] [White "Stewart Booth"] [Black "Ruari Coffey"] [Result "1/2-1/2"] [WhiteElo "1946"] [BlackElo "1487"] [ECO "D90"] [Opening "Gruenfeld: Three Knights Variation"] {After finding out who I was playing for round 4, I decided to prepare a line from a game that Stewart played a few years ago. (R.C)} 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.Qb3 dxc4 6.Qxc4 a6? {It was either this or O-O, but I couldn't remember the order. (R.C)} 7.Bf4 {This is what I get for trying to remember something instead of calculating, either a poor pawn structure or playing down a pawn. (R.C)} Be6 {Activity over material (R.C)} 8.Qxc7 Qxc7 9.Bxc7 Nd5 10.Nxd5 Bxd5 11.Be5 f6 12.Bxb8 Rxb8 {I now have the bishop pair. I might be able to salvage something during the game. (R,C)} 13.Nd2 {The move that allows black into the game (R.C)} f5 14.e3 e5 15.Bc4 {Giving back the material in order to get some minor activity. I realised my king was a bit airy and didn't want whites' king to have safety after castling kingside (R.C)} Bxg2 16.Rg1 Bc6 17.d5 Bd7 18.e4 b5 19.Bb3 Rc8 {Also preventing queenside castling. I was following the philosophy of "If my king is open, so is yours." (R.C)} 20.Ke2 Ke7 21.f3 Rc5 {Stockfish prefers Ba6 with -1.1 advantage (R.C)} 22.Rac1 Rhc8 23.Rxc5 Rxc5 24.exf5 {White offered the draw. I gladly accepted as I probably wouldn't get another chance like this (R.C)} {#d} 1/2-1/2
