[Event "VCCC"] [Date "2021.11.28"] [Round "6"] [White "Ruari Coffey"] [Black "Reza Daneshvar"] [Result "1-0"] [WhiteElo "1837"] [BlackElo "1770"] [ECO "A46"] [Opening "Indian: 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 3.e3"] 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 3.e3 Be7 4.Bd3 b6 5.c4 Bb7 6.Nc3 d6 7.O-O Nbd7 8.e4 e5 9.Qe2 c6 {I had played this pawn structure earlier and was thinking about how to play against it. I then realised my LSB was in the wrong place and black manages to find a way to exploit that very well. (R.C)} 10.b3 Qc7 11.Bb2 Nf8 12.Rac1 Ng6 13.g3 Bc8! {I had completely overlooked this as an option and now saw what black's goal was. All of the light squares are now weak and everything else is in the way. (R.C)} 14.dxe5 dxe5 15.Ne1 Bg4 16.f3 Bh3 17.Ng2 O-O 18.Rfd1 Rad8 19.Bc2 h5 20.Rxd8 Rxd8 21.Rd1 h4 22.Rxd8+ Qxd8 23.Qd1 Qc7 {I had wanted to trade all of blacks heavy pieces to alleviate most of the attack but black was determined to use the queen successfully. (R.C)} 24.Ne2 Nh5 25.Bc3 {White offered a draw. I had figured that black may not take this to to their overwhelmingly pleasant position but figured it mightn't hurt to ask. (R.C)} Bc5+ 26.Kh1 Qe7 27.Be1 Qf6 28.Qd3 hxg3 29.hxg3 Qg5 30.Qd2 Be3?? {Reza had gotten lost in thought about the way the attack will happen then picked up his DSB. I assume he wanted to take on g2 first, then this move. He had not let go of his piece even when placing it on e3 and could have played Be7 to protect the queen, though that may lead to a more drawish position. All of blacks pieces are still quite close to the white king so I had to be careful and not fall into any checkmates. (R.C)} 31.Nxe3 Nhf4 32.Nxf4 exf4 33.Nf5 Qh5 {Planning two different threats, Qxf3+ and Bxf5+. I had found only one way to deal with this. (R.C)} 34.Qd8+ Kh7 35.Nh4 Nxh4 36.Qxh4 {And after the trade of queens and the f-g pawns, the game looks better for white, being the piece up. A very lucky escape for white (R.C)} {#r} 1-0
