{This was an online blitz game against a human opponent where each player had
5 minutes on the clock. This victory was my first in chess that can be
classified as a brilliancy.} 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Nc3 Be6 4.d3 h6 5.Be3 Nf6
6.Be2 Ng4 7.Qd2 Nxh2?? {Trading a piece for a pawn is a blunder here.} 8.Rxh2
Nc6 9.d4 Nxd4 {Sets off a brief exchange of a piece and a pawn each} 10.Bxd4
exd4 11.Nxd4 Bd7 12.O-O-O Be7 13.f4 {The beginning of a forceful multi-pawn
push that ultimately, wins the game} O-O 14.g4 {The wall of three pawns, all
defended, looks strong} c5 15.Nf5 Bxf5 16.gxf5 {Despite the doubled pawns, all
three pawns on the e and f file are still defended} b6 17.Rg1 {Both rooks now
attacking pawns with only one defender} Bf6 18.Nd5 {Now, if the bishop at f5
wasn't there I could play f6 next move and black would be in big trouble.} a5
19.Qc3!? {The controversial? move. As can happen in blitz chess, I
inadvertently hung the queen?? and first thought I'd blown the game. However,
I then saw that I could possibly still make the pawn move to f6 anyway. Maybe
my move wasn't a blunder...} Bxc3 20.bxc3 b5? {A bad move. Black goes from
0.96 up to -7.09 behind. The king needed to move to h8 or h7. If either move
is made though, white still ends up over 3 points up in the following moves.}
(20...Kh8 21.f6 Rg8 22.Ne7 Qe8 23.Rgh1 gxf6 24.Rxh6+ Kg7 25.Rg1+ {King takes
Rook at h6 results in a forced mate against black in a few moves.} Kf8
26.Rxg8+ Kxe7 27.Rxe8+ Rxe8 {And White is winning by approx 3.5-4.0 points.})
(20...Kh8) (20...Kh7 21.f6 Rg8 22.Ne7 Qd7 23.Bg4 gxf6 24.Nxg8 Rxg8 25.Rxh6+
Kxh6 26.Rh1+ Kg7 27.Bxd7 {The Queen is taken and white is winning by over 3
points.}) 21.f6!! {White now has the pawn at f6 and is protected by the d5
knight. The pawn at g7 is pinned to the king and cannot capture.} g6 22.Bh5!
{The g6 pawn is pinned to the king and cannot take the bishop at h5.} b4
23.f5! {the g6 pawn is now being attacked by three pieces and cannot capture.}
g5 24.Ne7+! {The knight is now protected and must be taken by the queen to
extend the game} Kh7?? {Forced mate in 3} (24...Kh8 {Kh8 is also a forced mate
in 3.} 25.Bf3 Kh7 26.Rxh6+ Kxh6 27.Rh1#) 25.Bg6+!! {Bishop sac to win the
game.} fxg6 26.fxg6+ {26.... Kh8. 27. Rxh6# Black resigns, though
significantly up in material.} {#r} 1-0
